What it is
Risetime is a clock app for Android: alarms at a fixed time or following the sun, and timers that repeat and chain. No ads ever and completely offline.
An interval session is three numbers: how long you work, how long you rest, how many rounds. Risetime takes exactly those: a timer sequence of work and rest, and Loop for the rounds.
How do I set 40 seconds on, 20 off, for 8 rounds?
- On the Timers tab, tap the plus and type 0:40. Add it without starting.
- Open the row and add a second timer: 0:20.
- Set Loop to 8.
- Tick Add a ring at the start if you want a ring when you press play.
- Press play.
Each change, work to rest and rest to work, gives an intermediate ring: once, as a notification, nothing to dismiss mid-set. The end of the eighth round gives the full ring, with the ringing screen.

Can I see which round I’m in?
Folded, the row starts with the round you are in: [↻1] 0:14 / 0:40 [1/2] is round one, fourteen seconds into the work. The bar under it shows the work and the rest, sized to their durations.
The rounds stay on time: each timer counts from when the previous one was due, so eight rounds of forty and twenty take exactly eight minutes. Going from one round to the next is one intermediate ring, never two.

Can I add rest or rounds during a session?
- Need longer rest? The add-time button extends the running timer without stopping it.
- Feeling good? Add rounds while it runs; you can never drop below the round you are in.
- Done early? Stop, on the row or on the notification.
Other shapes work the same way: thirty and thirty, a longer rest every fourth round as its own timer, or a single timer looped for a steady bell. The timers guide has every gesture.
The same sequences time other things: Pomodoro work and break blocks, or the bells of a sitting practice.
Works offline, on your phone
Risetime runs entirely on your phone. It has no account, no cloud, no ads and no analytics, and it has no internet permission at all, so the operating system itself keeps it offline. Privacy policy
What it costs
Risetime is free for up to three alarms and three timers – for good. Need more? Use those three first, and see if it's worth your support: supporters get unlimited alarms and timers, yearly or once. If not, I'll be happy to hear you out.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I set up 40 seconds on, 20 seconds off, for 8 rounds?
- On the Timers tab, type 0:40 and add it without starting. Open the row, add a second timer of 0:20, and set Loop to 8. Press play.
- Can I use it for Tabata?
- Yes. Tabata is twenty seconds on, ten off, for eight rounds: type 0:20, add a second timer of 0:10, set Loop to 8 and press play.
- Can I see which round I am in?
- Yes. The folded row starts with the round: [↻3] is the third. The timer in progress and its place in the round follow, for example 0:14 / 0:40 [1/2].
- Is there a get-ready countdown?
- No. The first round starts when you press play. Tick Add a ring at the start and an intermediate ring marks that moment.
- Does it announce work and rest out loud?
- No. There is no voice. Every handover gives the same intermediate ring, and the end of the last round gives the full ring with the ringing screen.
- Can work and rest have different sounds?
- No. Every change, work to rest or rest to work, gives the same intermediate ring. The sequence can pick its own sound for it, different from your other timers.
- Does it keep a workout log?
- No. It does not record your sessions; it counts time and rings.
